Neglected Fayetteville Dog On Road To Recovery
Posted February 14, 2003
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A neglected dog that tugged at the hearts of many animal lovers is doing well.
Late last year, Smokey, now named Braveheart, was taken from a home by Fayetteville police. His collar was so tight that it had embedded into his skin.
Officials with the shelter say the dog has gained 50 pounds, and he is happy and playful. However, officials say he will need additional surgeries on his neck.
Braveheart is not eligible for adoption until the case against his owner goes through the courts.
