DURHAM, N.C. — The Durham County School Board voted 4-2 Thursday in favor of hiring an independent lawyer to investigate board member Jackie Wagstaff.
Wagstaff was convicted of falsifying city documents when she was the director of a nonprofit organization. The school board has to figure out if that is grounds for firing.
The board also told its own attorney to make guidelines for a public hearing on the issue.
