RDU, Shearon Harris React To Change In Alert Status

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — The entire country was on alert Friday -- warned about a "high" risk of a terrorist attack -- and local authorities reacted.

Raleigh-Durham International Airport

blocked off parking within 300 feet of Terminals A and C. The restrictions were the same ones put into place after Sept. 11, 2001, 11 but were lifted in mid-December.

As of Monday morning, the airport reopened some parking spots closest to the terminals. Lots will open up during peak hours, but all vehicles will be thoroughly inspected before they are allowed to park.

Security inside the terminals will not change from tight measures already in place.

The Shearon Harris Nuclear Plant also tightened security, following the same system as the Department of Homeland Security.

Confidential plans are put into action at Shearon Harris when the alert status changes.
