Police Want To Solve Traffic Woes In North Raleigh District

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — A special police unit is working with city engineering officials after seeing an increase in speeders and traffic accidents in one part of Raleigh.

Police are concerned about traffic in District 22, which runs from the Millbrook and Six Forks area through northeast Raleigh.

"As far as the police department is concerned, our job is to enforce the speed limit and traffic laws, so we have to be creative in how we go about enforcing those speed limits," said Officer Danny Neiters, of the Raleigh Police Department. "However, we have been establishing a relationship with the city's department of engineering and possibly get some traffic-calming devices put into place."

Officials are considering shrinking some neighborhood connector roads to physically force the traffic to slow down. They are also considering putting roundabouts in that area.
