A Lakeview man was killed Wednesday after falling head first into a 55-foot-deep well at a work site near Pinehurst.

Moore County Emergency Services officials said Jack Henry King, 35, an employee with Graham & Currie Well Drilling of West End, became trapped after falling into the well around 10 a.m.

The accident happened at a Habitat For Humanity work site on Juniper Lake Road. The road connects Highway 15-501 and Highway 211.

King's body has been removed from the well shaft.
