Nash County Students Treated After Fire Extinguisher Discharges

e-mail print friendly

Some students at Southern Nash Middle School were taken to a local hospital Tuesday after an incident in a classroom.

Officials say a student was tampering with a fire extinguisher during the changing of classes around 11:30 a.m. when it went off in a music classroom.

Twenty-six students, who complained of breathing problems, were transported by school bus to Nash General Hospital as a precaution.

A bomb threat was also called into the school Tuesday, forcing an evacuation. Officials later found no bomb in the building and students returned to class.
