Cadaver dogs were also brought in to stiff around the lake, and authorities placed buoys in the lake to mark a search area. However, authorities said they were unable to find anything.
Durham police say they also want to interview a woman who had a close relationship with the husband of a missing Durham cellist.
Police say Phaedra Oorbeck moved to the Emerald Forest Apartments in Durham from Illinois days before Janine Sutphen vanished. Oorbeck reportedly had a relationship with Robert Petrick, Sutphen's husband, since the late 1980s. Authorities say Oorbeck and Petrick were joined in a pagan ceremony in 1995.
Police said they do not considered Oorbeck a suspect, but they would like to ask her some questions about Sutphen's disappearance. Oorbeck also declined an interview request with WRAL on the advice of her lawyers.
Petrick was arrested on fraud charges earlier in the week. Police say the charges are somehow related to Sutphen's disappearance, but they would not elaborate.
Sutphen's sons said they do not know much about Petrick and his past. Petrick married Sutphen a year and a half ago.
