Body Discovered In Woods Off Western Boulevard

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police are investigating the discovery of a woman's body off Western Boulevard.

An officer found the body in the woods along Bilyeu Street. He was in the area searching for clues from a Monday-night assault near the Circle K.

Police launched a search for someone in those same woods across from Pullen Park. They set up a perimeter that included the old Cardinal Gibbons School and the western part of the Dorothea Dix campus.

A Highway Patrol helicopter joined the search. Police did not say if Monday's assault, the body and the search are related.
