HOPE MILLS, N.C. — The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office has arrest warrants on file for an early-morning shooting and robbery that took place at 5512 Gilcrest Sands Drive in Hope Mills.
According to investigators, Walter Derrell Patterson shot Anthony Purdie in the face during a robbery. Patterson is wanted on charges of robbery with a dangerous weapon and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.
Purdie was in UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill on Saturday night. He is expected to recover from his injuries.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Patterson is asked to contact the Sheriff's office at 677-5432 or call CrimeStoppers.
