RALEIGH, N.C. — An 1986 Bell 206L helicopter is being sold on eBay for $700,000. It is one of the many items the state is selling in an effort to solve the budget crisis.
Jeff Nance, of the state Surplus Property Office, said the state is serious when it comes to selling items online.
"It's been a great way of selling property that we normally couldn't sell," Nance said. "We've sold everything from airplanes to Dale Earnhardt model cars."
The state surplus property office not only uses eBay, but also operates three Web sites offering unclaimed jewelry and money, along with confiscated baseball cards.
