LEE COUNTY, N.C. — Lee County investigators said they have made an arrest in a New Year's Day murder.
Samuel Hart, 24, is charged with murdering 26-year-old Jamie Lockamy Smith.
Investigators said Smith was shot to death while smoking a cigarette on her porch. Smith was the daughter-in-law of a Sanford police officer.
Hart is scheduled to make a court appearance Jan. 22.
