Posted Updated

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police say they are looking for two or three African-American males in connection with a shooting and robbery that occurred Saturday night on Chapel Hill Road, in front of Colonial Apartments.

According to police, two people identified as German Ponce Medina and Debra Solis were walking from a store on University Drive when three African-American males approached them from behind asking for change.

Medina reportedly turned down the men's request and pushed Solis behind him.

Solis told authorities that she heard a gunshot and saw that Medina had been shot in the upper left back. She said the three men searched Medina's pockets and left on foot.

Medina was reported to be in critical condition at Duke early Sunday.
