RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police have confirmed the arrest of a man accused of stealing a sport utility vehicle and then engaging police in a vehicle chase and foot pursuit on Friday.

Charles Glenn Wilson, 26, of 3277 Calumet Drive, was arrested Friday. He has been charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, hit and run, possession of cocaine, misdemeanor breaking and entering and numerous traffic violations after leading officers on a chase in the Five Points area.

The stolen SUV was equipped with the On-Star GPS tracking system, which allowed officers to locate the vehicle on Glenwood Avenue.

According to police, Wilson attempted to elude officers by turning on to The Circle and losing control of the vehicle behind a house. He fled on foot but was captured minutes later by Raleigh Police Department K-9 units and the State Highway Patrol helicopter.

The SUV had been taken from Bobby Murray Chevrolet earlier.
