Weekend Fire Damages Fayetteville Apartment Complex

Posted Updated

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Investigators have not determined the cause of a fire that destroyed the top floor of a 12-unit apartment complex in Fayetteville late Saturday night.

The fire at the Meadowbrook at Kings Grant Apartments reportedly started around 10:30 p.m.

About 30 residents were left without a place to live. Sunday, residents tried to salvage what they could.

According to witnesses, the fire spread very rapidly. Residents ran from door to door, banging on neighbors' doors and telling them to leave the building.

Investigators said the bottom two floors sustained serious damage from smoke and water. The building next door was evacuated for precautionary reasons because flames were blowing from the building on fire.

No one was injured in the fire.
