ZEBULON, N.C. — A Pitt County man has been arrested on charges that he assaulted a stranger while posing as a police officer.
Robert Lee Milling, who was taken to the Wake County jail, was arrested Friday on charges that he impersonated a police officer and assaulted an employee at a local convenient store.
According to authorities, Milling walked into the store carrying a steel club and wearing a badge. He then tried to put a male employee in handcuffs before other employees asked him what he was doing and scared him off.
Milling reportedly thought the employee had stolen some money from him. He had a police badge from Florida in his possession when he was arrested.
