Raleigh Police Search For Suspect In Morning Bank Robbery

RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police are investigating a robbery at the First Union Bank on Capital Boulevard in Mini City.

Police said a lone bandit dropped out of the ceiling of the bank around 8:20 a.m. Tuesday, surprising employees.

They said suspect displayed a handgun and took an undisclosed amount of money.

Police believe the suspect got onto the roof of the bank overnight and used a saw to cut a hole in the roof. They said the suspect hid inside the ceiling until dropping down on a rope.

They said the suspect had a pillowcase over his head, with eye holes cut out.

The suspect fled the bank in an early-'90s Ford Escort. He was wearing dark blue sweat pants, a dark blue sweat shirt and gloves.
