Raleigh Man On Loose After Fleeing Apartment With Police Outside

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police are trying to figure out how a man, who ran into an apartment after leading police on a chase, escaped without being seen by anyone.

After entering into a apartment near Crabtree Valley Mall, police said there was no sign of Ronald Henry.

Police said the situation started when Henry's ex-girlfriend called police and told them he was following her as she was taking her child to Stough Elementary School.

Police ran a trace and learned the Henry was wanted on robbery charges.

When police arrived and attempted to serve a warrant, a chase ensued and ended in a neighborhood where Henry apparently ran into the apartment.

Raleigh police set up its mobile command unit. As a precaution, authorities evacuated homes in the area. The news took some neighbors by surprise.

"It freaks you out because you don't know what is going on," neighbor Tonya Everly said. "You come by your house and you see 15 to 20 cop cars and you don't know what's going on."

Police said they do not know how long Henry was in the apartment.
