Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — Outgoing Wake County Sheriff John Baker could soon have a new office.

Baker, who recently lost his bid to be Wake County's sheriff for a seventh term, may be appointed to the Wake County Board of Commissioners to fill the shoes of veteran board member Vernon Malone.

Malone is headed to the state Senate.

The Wake County Democratic party will select Malone's successor.
