Johnston Authorities Investigate Possible Kidnapping

Posted Updated

FOUR OAKS, N.C. — Johnston County officials are looking for an elderly man they said was kidnapped at gunpoint from a grocery store parking lot.

Officials said the incident happened just before 9 p.m. Sunday outside of the Massengill Gas and Grocery near Highway 301 in Four Oaks.

Deputies said a group of men held the alleged victim up at gunpoint.

"The man had his hands up and (another) man had the gun in the man's chest and he made him exit the vehicle," eyewitness Frankie Harris said.

Harris said the man was forced to walk around his vehicle, where he entered on the passenger side. Harris said he called a friend, who then called an employee working at the store.

Four Oaks police questioned Harris, but they told WRAL that they have little to go on. Officials with the Johnston County Sheriff's Office said the Four Oaks Police Department is leading the investigation, but a detective has been assigned to the case.

Police said they do not know exactly what kind of car they are looking for, only that it may have been either a silver or gray Nissan Pathfinder, Toyota 4-Runner or Chevy S-10 Blazer.

The victim's name has not been released.
