High School Cancels Homecoming Events After Students Arrested

Posted Updated

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Officials at Smith High School decided to cancel a homecoming dance and pep rally after four students were arrested on assault charges following separate incidents that occurred on campus on consecutive days.

The football game between Smith and Glenn High of Kernersville was played.

Last Thursday, a Smith student was sent to the hospital after being beaten. The next morning, another Smith student suffered a cut after being attacked in a boy's bathroom just as school opened.

Two students were arrested in each attack.

School officials canceled Friday's pep rally and Friday night's dance following the second attack.
