Pedestrian Killed In Chapel Hill

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Chapel Hill police are still investigating an accident that killed a pedestrian.

The accident happened around 10 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of West Franklin and Church streets. Police say a white BMW hit and killed 77-year-old James Ellis of Henderson.

Police are not sure if he was trying to cross the street. The driver's name has not been released, but WRAL has learned that the driver was a 50-year-old man from Chapel Hill.

So far, no charges have been filed.
