Scissors, Mace and Swiss army knives are just some of the items security at RDU International have confiscated from passengers at security checkpoints. One passenger even tried to take a .22-caliber handgun and a hunting knife through a checkpoint.
"Half of the things we have confiscated run the gamut," said Ron Juhl, director of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).
TSA officials said once the items are confiscated, they are taken to a recycling center where they are broken down. Officials said the only exception is actual weapons that officials can use to press charges against individuals.
