Granville County Woman Assaulted, Mobile Home Set On Fire

Posted Updated

GRANVILLE COUNTY, N.C. — Authorities say the wife of a Vance County deputy was assaulted Thursday morning in her mobile home on Dorsey Road, located 6 miles east from Oxford.

"We did have a victim that had been assaulted when she came home this morning after taking her children to school by two black males," said Granville County Sheriff David Smith.

Authorities said the men then intentionally set the mobile home on fire. Authorities say the woman suffered injuries from the assault, but she was able to escape the fire.

"She was able to get out of the house before smoke overcame her, so she was lucky that she was able to escape from the house," Smith said.

Authorities say both suspects wore ski masks. Officials with the State Bureau of Investigation and arson investigators are looking for a possible motive and clues that will lead to the capture of the two suspects.
