Nuisance Action Filed Against Wilson Owner, Nightclub

Posted Updated

WILSON, N.C. — Wilson police have shut down a nightclub that they say is a nuisance to the neighborhood and arrested its owner.

Authorities said the Due Drop End has a tough reputation in Wilson. Two people were killed and seven others were shot there last weekend.

"We get a lot of complaints about the place. We have a lot of trouble that stems from people coming out in the streets or in the parking lot," said Sgt. W.S. Bissette, of the Wilson Police Department. "It was basically becoming a haven for the criminal environment."

Police plan to arrest Roger Barnes for murder, but they arrested the club's owner, Percy Bowens, Thursday for failing to supervise the business.

Wilson police say Bowens had been arrested before for this type of charge. They are hoping this charge will force him to quit.

WRAL attempted to contact Percy Bowens at his business and at his home Thursday, but was unable to reach him for comment.
