FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Cumberland County's Partnership for Children is touting the successes of Smart Start.
Tuesday, leaders announced speech or developmental screenings were performed on more than 3,400 children this year and 4,700 received subsidized child care. Nearly 4,000 families received family support and over 100 day-care centers were rated three stars or higher.
Even with this progress, leaders said they will not achieve their mission until every child is healthy and ready to succeed.
