Durham Police Officer Charged With DWI

DURHAM, N.C. — A Durham police officer has been charged with driving while intoxicated in Wake County.

Officer James A. McVay Jr. was stopped in Wake County Saturday night by a state Highway Patrol officer. McVay was charged with driving while intoxicated and failure to stop at a stoplight.

McVay has been employed with the Durham Police Department since Aug. 7, 2000, and he is assigned to the Uniform Patrol Bureau.

McVay has been placed on administrative duty.
