Investigators said a student was robbed in his room in the Avery Residence Hall just before 7 p.m. Thursday night. Avery Hall is located off Ridge Road near the Boshamer Baseball Stadium.
The 18-year-old victim said the thief took his laptop, cell phone, some jewelry and cash. He was not hurt.
The gunman was described as a black male approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, 185 pounds with a medium to dark complexion and no facial hair. He wore his hair in a tight cornrow style and had on a gray T-shirt, blue jeans and boots. Police are also looking for another man who may be an accomplice.
Police ask anyone with information to call UNC police or Carrboro-Chapel Hill-UNC Crime Stoppers at 942-7515.
