Pope Firefighter Charged In Murder Of 2-Year-Old

HARNETT COUNTY, N.C. — A Harnett County man is charged with killing his 2-year-old stepdaughter.

Andrew Marcus Stewart, an enlisted firefighter at Pope Air Force Base, is is being held without bond in the death of Adrianna Penn.

Stewart is charged withone count of murder and two counts of felony child abuse by inflicting serious injury. He is being held in the Harnett County jail without bond for the murder charge and a $60,000 secured bobd for the abuse charges.

The Sheriff's Office said the charges stem from two different occasions at the suspect's residence.

Penn died at Womack Army Medical Center Monday. Hospital workers said the toddler had bruises on her body and face.

An autopsy will be conducted.
