Cumberland Authorities Make Arrest In Double Murder

Posted Updated

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.C. — Cumberland County authorities have arrested a man wanted in connection with a double shooting Tuesday.

Police arrested Thomas Earl Watkins at 3:15 p.m. at his mother's residence after he allegedly shot his ex-girlfriend Bobbie Meyers and her friend George Autry.

Investigators say Meyers stepped outside her mobile home on Buhmann Drive early Tuesday morning when she was confronted by Watkins.

Authorities say Watkins shot Meyers and then entered the mobile home and shot Autry.

Watkins was to have turned himself in to the Sheriff's Department Tuesday in connection with an Aug. 22 kidnapping of Meyers and Autry.

Meyers had a restraining order issued against Watkins.
