Five Points Residents Pleased With Revised Development Plan

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — There appears to be a settlement in the ongoing battle of the Bickett Place project.

Developers wanted to build 16 town homes on two acres of land in the Roanoke Park section of the historic Five Points neighborhood. Last week, they revised the plan to build a dozen single family homes instead.

Tuesday night, residents told the city council that they are pleased with the changes.

"No plan is perfect," resident Laura Kleber said. "We think we've done a really super job at getting the neighborhood to kind of respect and preserve some of our architectual uniquness, but also allowing something new and a little bit different, moving us forward."

The name of the development has also changed from Bickett Place to the Village at Five Points.

The city council approved the plan, but two other boards must also approve it.
