Wake County Schools To Enforce New Dress Code

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — With the start of the traditional school year comes a new dress code for Wake County students.

The policy bans middle and high school students from wearing clothes that are too revealing or distracting, including see-through fabrics, baggy pants, hats, strapless tops, bare midriffs and anything too tight or too short.

Many teens said it is hard to find anything in stores that is considered acceptable under the dress code, and believe many students will break the new rules.

Principals and teachers are promising to enforce the dress code when school starts in two weeks.

Students in violation of the policy could be asked to change on a first offense; a second or repeated violation could result in disciplinary action.
