The tanker, which was carrying 8,500 gallons of gasoline, overturned along Highway 96, spilling more than half of its load Thursday.
The strech of road, located a few miles north of Selma, has been shut down since the wreck. The Department of Transportation said the crash may have damaged the road.
Crews may have to re-cover part of the road, meaning it would not reopen until Monday at the earliest.
According to the Highway Patrol, a passenger car failed to yield to the truck, causing the collision.
The truck overturned, puncturing one of the tanks. About 5,200 gallons spilled into a nearby ditch, which authorities said was contained.
Authorities transferred the remaining fuel in the truck to a second tanker.
By Friday afternoon, all but four families that were evacuated were allowed to return to the area.
The driver of the car was charged with failure to yield. The driver, a passenger and the truck driver were treated at a local hospital for minor injuries.
