Cary Takes On Time-Warner Cable

Posted Updated

CARY, N.C. — The town of Cary is taking on Time-Warner Cable.

Cary is hiring a lawyer to fight the cable company's claim that it is no longer a monopoly.

Time-Warner filed papers with the Federal Communications Commission to show there is enough satellite service in Cary and surrounding areas.

If the FCC agrees, Time-Warner would be exempt from federal, state and local regulation, meaning it could charge whatever it wants for basic service.
