RALEIGH, N.C. — A flatbed tractor-trailer carrying a load of roofing shingles overturned on U.S. Highway 70 in eastern Durham Thursday afternoon.
The truck driver, Richard Stoll of Lake City, Florida, has been charged with driving while impaired. Stoll was not injured in the accident.
Stoll was driving east on U.S. 70 near the Miami Boulevard overpass when he lost control of the truck in a curve around 3:15 p.m.
The truck, which is owned by Consolidated Transport of Savannah, Georgia, rolled onto its right side, scattering roofing shingles along the right shoulder of the highway.
Durham police officers shut down traffic on U.S. 70 East for approximately 10 minutes while the truck was pulled upright.
