Jevon Ward Pleads Guilty To Charges Of Assault On Officer, Chase

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. — A Wake County man could spend the rest of his life behind bars.

Jevon Anthony Ward, 23, is accused of assaulting an officer and leading the Highway Patrol on a high-speed chase through Raleigh and Cary in January.

In a federal court, Monday, Ward pleaded guilty to the following charges: 2 counts of carjacking (each count could bring 15 years to life and a $250,000 fine); 1 count of brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence (7 years to life); 1 count of discharging a weapon during a crime of violence (25 years to life) and 1 count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon (15 years to life).

A sentencing date has not been set.
