Tractor-Trailer Wreck Closes Section Of Bragg Boulevard

Posted Updated

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A section of Bragg Boulevard was closed to traffic for several hours Tuesday after a wreck involving a tractor-trailer and two other vehicles.

The Fayetteville Police Department said the wreck happened at the corner of Bragg Boulevard and Santa Fe Drive when a tractor-trailer jackknifed, hit a utility pole and caught fire.

Police said the tractor-trailer also struck two other vehicles.

The driver of one of the vehicles struck was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. The driver's injuries are not known.

As a result of the accident, the power on Bragg Boulevard between Santa Fe Drive and just past Johnson Street had to be shut off to allow crews to repair the damaged power line.

Military police at Fort Bragg also shut down outbound Bragg Boulevard near Santa Fe Drive to assist in traffic control.

All traffic from Fort Bragg and Spring Lake was rerouted to Murchison Road, and traffic coming from downtown toward Fort Bragg was rerouted to Skibo Road.

The accident is still under investigation, and charges have not yet been filed.
