Police Have Few Clues After Remains Found In Goldsboro

Goldsboro police are not saying much about the discovery, only that the body was found in a wooded area, and that it had been there for a while.

Someone called police Saturday, but they will not say who. The body was found near Darnell Davis' house.

"As much as I go back and forth to work every day and my kids and my dogs, I don't usually expect anything like that," he said.

Davis said he never saw or heard anything unusual.

"It kind of surprises me because this is a quiet area and I wasn't expecting anything like that to happen here, not on this side of Goldsboro," Davis said.

"We're in the process now of doing missing persons reports and things like that. It's going to take a while to be able to go through that. And the body has been sent to the medical examiner's office in Chapel Hill, and that's a process too, that's going to take a little while," said Maj. Tim Bell of the Goldsboro Police Department.

Goldsboro police have also asked the State Bureau of Investigation for help. Authorities hope to know the identity of the person soon. Results from the medical examiner's office are expected to take several days.
