RALEIGH — Hoke County Sheriff Jim Davis was treated and released from Cape Fear Valley Medical Center after his patrol car was forced off the road Tuesday afternoon.
Hoke County Highway Patrol Sgt. Hardison says Davis was traveling east on U.S 401 around 3 p.m. when a tractor-trailer lost control while veering to avoid another car. The truck then struck Davis, who was making a right on to Route 1464, forcing Davis' vehicle into a telephone pole.
The truck, driven by Charles Outlaw, 33, went into a parking lot, striking another car.
Outlaw was not injured, and officials say he was cited for reckless driving.
