Police Release Composite Of Man Suspected In Seven Break-Ins

have released a composite of a man they believe is responsible for seven break-ins in the area dating back to January.

The incidents happened in neighborhoods along Strickland Road, Sawmill Road and Millbrook Road in the northwest part of the city. Walnut Creek Parkway and Compatible Way in the southwest part of Raleigh were also hit.

Raleigh police said the break-ins have a similar pattern.

"He has done a couple of things. One lady was out walking her dog and when she came in, he followed right in behind her. Other people have been asleep in their bed to wake up and find him standing in their bedroom," said Capt. D.S. Overman of the Raleigh Police Department. "He is asking them to perform sex acts on him. He is asking them to touch him -- things of that nature."

Police said at least two cases involve a sexual assault, but not rape. They also said the man has not stolen anything.

Most of the incidents have occurred at night.

Witnesses describe the suspect as a 6-foot-tall black male in his 20s or possibly early 30s, weighing 180 to 200 pounds. Police are working on a composite picture based on the witnesses' descriptions.

Authorities said in some of the incidents, the suspect has walked through an unlocked door into a person's residence, so they are urging residents to keep their doors locked at all times.
