Duke Basketball Player Charged With Assaulting Girlfriend

CARRBORO, N.C. — Duke basketball player Casey Sanders was arrested and charged with assaulting a female Tuesday in Carrboro.

According to court documents, Sanders and his girlfriend got into a dispute during breakfast, and he allegedly grabbed her arm and pushed her into a wall.

Sanders was charged with misdemeanor assault of a female. Sanders was in jail for about an hour Tuesday, then he was released on bond.

The Duke Athletic Office would not comment on the incident, but they did say that they are disappointed to learn about the arrest. Sanders will appear in court June 3.

Last season, Sanders, a junior, was a reserve player for the Blue Devils.
