Triangle Town Center May Have Its Share Of Traffic Delays

Posted Updated

WAKE COUNTY, N.C. — Developers claim the area's new mall, the Triangle Town Center, will be open for business in four months. However, mall traffic could be held up by delays on Interstate 540.

The news of the mall's opening is coming under fire by nearby residents.

"I hate for it to be a lot of traffic because when I first came here, we didn't even see any cars," resident Lillian Dunn said.

Much of the traffic will come on the new I-540 interchange with Capital Boulevard just north of the mall. The multi-million dollar series of fly-overs and exit ramps is ahead of schedule and should be ready for the mall opening.

The new section of I-540 as close as Gresham Lake Road still has a long way to go. Some engineers said they are concerned that the portion of I-540 between Falls of Neuse Road and the new mall may not be ready by Aug. 14.
