SANFORD, N.C. — A mobile home company that closed in March, leaving customers with a debt and no roof over their heads, has filed for bankruptcy.
Last month, dozens of customers said North Star Homes of Sanford, Inc. took their money without delivering the goods. Despite a phone number written on a note on the company's front door, customers have not been able to contact anyone with North Star.
North Star also closed its offices in Dunn and Asheboro.
Under the bankruptcy plan, North Star's debt will be erased and it can stay in business.
A creditors meeting is scheduled later this month in Greensboro.
