RALEIGH, N.C. — Getting home around rush hour anywhere in the Triangle is becoming more time consuming.
Some drivers are looking for shortcuts, sometimes speeding through subdivisions. Neighbors in one north Raleigh community near Thorpshire Drive are concerned for their children's safety.
During rush hour, the neighborhood kids get out on the side of the road and hold up signs, telling drivers to slow down.
"If they observe the 25 mph limit signal and if the police come out and issue speeding tickets, I think that would deter people from people speeding away," said Jerry Brueggeman, who lives in the neighborhood.
Raleigh police have also increased their afternoon patrols in the area.
