Durham Police Investigate Robbery, Sexual Assault At Lingerie Shop

e-mail print friendly

Durham police are investigating similarities between Monday night's robbery and sexual assault at a lingerie shop with other recent crimes in the city.

Police said around 9:45 p.m., a man with a revolver and a trash bag entered Priscilla's on Guess Road.

According to police, the suspect robbed the lingerie store, then forced two females into a back room where he sexually assaulted one of them.

The suspect is described as a black male, in his late 20s or early 30s, 6'1" tall, 175 pounds, with a medium complexion. He was wearing a light-colored hooded sweater, dark pants, a shoulder-length wig with bangs and a red bandana over the lower portion of his face. He was carrying a blue trash bag.

This incident has investigators asking new questions about other recent crimes.

Four weeks ago, Durham police said a black man broke into a house in the Watts-Hillandale neighborhood and sexually assaulted a woman. Police said the suspect had a sawed-off shotgun and also wore a red bandana to cover his face.

Last week, police said a man robbed an ABC store on North Roxboro Road. They said the suspect pulled a shotgun out of a trash bag and demanded money.

An hour earlier that same night, police said a man robbed someone outside a Kerr Drug store on Ninth Street. In both of these cases, the suspect was described as a black male, 6'1" tall, and wearing a hooded sweater.

Durham police said they hope surveillance video from inside Priscilla's will help them out.

Anyone with information is asked to call Durham Crimestoppers at at (919) 683-1200.
