RALEIGH, N.C. — Things are back to normal at
WakeMed
after a bomb threat forced the evacuation of two buildings at the New Bern Avenue campus Monday morning.
A hospital spokesperson said a note referring to a bomb was found in an elevator in the Andrews Center for Medical Education around 9 a.m.
The building, which houses outpatient clinics, a medical library and conference center, as well as a medical office building next to it, were evacuated.
No patients in the main hospital were affected.
Raleigh police and fire crews, as well as WakeMed police, searched the building and found nothing. The buildings were reopened around 10:45 a.m.
It is routine for police to evacuate everything within 1,000 feet of a threatened area.
