Raleigh Red Wolves Ramble To New Location

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — Artistic wolves that have been displayed around the city of Raleigh for months have disappeared -- but this time they were not stolen.

Some of the wolves have turned up at the North Carolina Museum of History, where they have been donated for auction.

The

auction

on April 5 will be the grand finale of the

"Red Wolf Ramble"

.

The wolves are expected to draw between $1,500 and $6,000 each. Proceeds of the auction will benefit 30 local non-profit organizations.

More than 100 life-sized, fiberglass wolves had been on display throughout the city since September 2001.

The wolves were created by North Carolina artists and placed around the city in parks, shopping centers, small businesses and downtown locations.

Several wolves were stolen during the course of the event.
