Car Tires Slashed In Fayetteville Neighborhood

Posted Updated

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — The Fayetteville Police Department is stepping up patrols in one neighborhood after a rash of tire slashings.

More than a dozen people who live in the Water's Edge subdivision have been targeted. Police said that the tires were slashed between midnight Monday and early Tuesday morning.

Neighbors said that there have been other crimes in the neighborhood recently, including everything from break-ins to sexual assaults.

"We'll be parking our cars as close to the house as possible and talking with the neighbors and trying to get people to help watch out for everybody else," said resident Judy Prittard.

Water's Edge is in the beginning stages of setting up its Community Watch program.

Two of the car owners with slashed tires were Fayetteville police officers.
