RALEIGH, N.C. — N.C. State Director of Athletics Lee Fowler was named the
Person of the Week
by TIME.com, the online version of Time Magazine.
Fowler received the honor after serving as the Chairman of the 2002 NCAA men's basketball committee, which selects the field of 65 teams that will compete in the annual NCAA men's basketball tournament.
According to the Web site, Fowler was selected because "He's the man at the center of a storm surrounding picks, placement and the spring's biggest sports event."
Fowler came to N.C. State in September 2000 after spending six years as the Director of Athletics at Middle Tennessee State University.
A 1974 Vanderbilt graduate and former coach and administrator at the University of Memphis, Fowler has served on the NCAA men's basketball committee since 1997.
