Time.com Names N.C. State A.D. As Person Of Week

RALEIGH, N.C. — N.C. State Director of Athletics Lee Fowler was named the

Personof the Week

by TIME.com, the online version of Time Magazine.

Fowler received the honor after serving as the Chairman of the 2002 NCAA men's basketball committee, which selects the field of 65 teams that will compete in the annual NCAA men's basketball tournament.

According to the Web site, Fowler was selected because "He's the manat the center of a storm surrounding picks, placement and the spring'sbiggest sports event."

Fowler came to N.C. State in September 2000 after spending sixyears as the Director of Athletics at Middle Tennessee State University.

A 1974 Vanderbilt graduate and former coach and administrator at theUniversity of Memphis, Fowler has served on the NCAA men's basketball committee since 1997.
