Neighbors Not Horsing Around About Proposed North Raleigh Development

Posted Updated

RALEIGH — The owners of a 55-acre tract of rolling pastures off Strickland Road in North Raleigh want to go into business with a developer, but neighbors are not happy about the proposition.

Under the developer's proposal, the land would need to be re-zoned for mixed use development. Then, construction could begin on a hotel, condominiums, wellness center, office and retail space.

Neighbors who live near the area say they do not want to see their peace and quiet disturbed.

They say they are also afraid the construction equipment would tear up their roads, and they wonder what effect it will have on their property values.

Project developer Michael Sandman could not be reached for comment.

The issue will come before the Raleigh City Council Tuesday.
