Sheriff's Office Claims DNA Evidence Links Suspect To Murder Of Soldier's Wife

Posted Updated

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.C. — The results of evidence collected in the murder of a Cumberland County military wife are in.

Angela Mosden, 40, was found stabbed to death in her Beaver Run home last Thursday. Over the weekend, investigators arrested 20-year-old John Lennon Wood for the murder.

Wood and his parents insisted detectives had the wrong guy, but the Sheriff's Office believes that it has the right person.

"The results show the blood taken from Wood's leather jacket matched both Woods and the victim," Sheriff Butler said.

Butler also said DNA from a cigarette butt found outside Mosden's home matches Wood's DNA. Wood is charged with first-degree murder and first-degree burglary.
